Combining to play a total of 386 games in the World Hockey Association over the course of their respective careers, Jim Watson and Jerry Zrymiak both suited up for the Los Angeles Sharks during the team's existence between the 1972-73 and 1973-74 seasons. Offered here, we present this Los Angeles Sharks red road jersey that was first worn by Watson during the 1972-73 season and then recycled into the 1973-74 campaign for use by Zrymiak after Watson was traded to the Chicago Cougars. A durene knit construction v-neck offering first seeing use by Watson during Los Angeles' inaugural season of 1972-73 made and customized by Goodman & Sons, their label, displaying a size "50" designation is sewn inside the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a Sharks team crest in layered tackle twill that also features embroidered details as well, the sleeves and verso of the durene knit garment are styled with Watson's/Zrymiak's number "2" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals while "Zrymiak" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed red twill nameplate that is in place over the upper reverse. Of note, the team first spelt Zrymiak's name wrong (the "R" and the "Y" were in the wrong order) and evidence of the change can been seen under those two letters. Additionally, the "Zrymiak" nameplate is sewn over top of the "Watson" name that graced the upper reverse the year prior, with it seen once the jersey is turned inside out. Void of a fight strap on the interior, the jersey displays game-wear via heavy pilling on the interior, a team repair over the lower front, stick marks and board burns over both sleeves, a team repair in the left sleeve, stick marks over the lower front and an unrepaired hole near the left cuff. Of note, there is also unrepaired holes over the right breast that were caused by the removal of the alternate captain's "A" that Watson wore in 1972-73. The holes help us date the jersey to the 1972-73 season as for 1973-74 the Sharks put their captaincy letters over the left breast instead. Lastly, research shows that nameplates and generic block letters were only worn during the 1973-74 season, as evident by the "Zrymiak" name/nameplate while the in 1972-73 the letters had serifs and were affixed directly to the material over the upper reverse, like what is seen with the letters spelling out "Watson" underneath the currently affixed nameplate.
