Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
A first round draft pick of the Washington Capitals in 2006, goaltender Semyon Varlamov was also the starter for his native Russia at the 2010 and 2012 World Championships. Varlamov is currently with the New York Islanders. This stick was used by the Russian keeper in 2010-11 with Washington, and it hails from the personal collection of Carey Price. A Reebok model with graphics in Caps' blue and white, "S Varlamov" factory graphics appear on the upper shaft, with white tape to the blade and knob intact (the blade tape was probably changed before gifting, as it shows very little wear compared to the stick itself). There is also red tape to the handle. The stick shows moderate to heavy use with marks and a large chip to the paddle, with considerable red goal post paint transfer to the paddle and shaft. Varlamov has signed the blade in blue marker. A Classic Auctions LOA will accompany along with a COA from Frameworth.
