Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Not one to just stand between the pipes, Percy LeSueur was especially innovative during his time goaltending throughout the first decade of the 20th century, with advancements made to the gauntlets worn by netminders, along with a patented goal net that resembled modern examples. Having raised Lord Stanley's Cup on more than one (1) occasion as a member of the original iteration of the NHA's Ottawa Senators and inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1961, offered here is this copy of LeSueur's 1911-12 Imperial Tobacco C55 card. Having been graded to the tune of a VG 3 designation many years ago by SGC, Percy's awesome Ottawa turtleneck sweater exhibits vivid colors here over the front while the rest of the card shows wear to the corners, including a bit of paper loss at the bottom right, while the surfaces on either side remain quite clean other than a small mark at the bottom edge on the reverse. Housed in an older style SGC holder, a number of scratches are observed over both sides that are worth pointing out for accuracy.
