Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
The namesake of the trophy that is awarded to the NHL’s most outstanding goaltender in any given season, George Vezina would be the only man to stand between the posts for the Montreal Canadiens between 1910 and 1925, leading them to Stanley Cup victories in 1916 and 1924 while helping them to the Cup Finals on three other occasions. One of the original nine inductees into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1945, offered here is this copy of Vezina’s 1923-24 William Paterson V145-1 card. Having been assessed by the graders at PSA who have awarded the card a mark of GOOD 2 after inspection as well as an "MK" designation due to faint notations over the reverse, the 100-year-old relic shows a haunting like black and white image of Vezina over the front with the back remaining blank. Exhibiting wear to the edges and corners all the way around as well as staining/toning to the surfaces on both sides, the card is the fourth most valuable offering in the entire set and the only non-rookie card to crack the top five. Housed in a PSA holder that remains in overall excellent condition despite minor imperfections over both sides, don't miss out on this one for your vintage portfolio!
