Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Goaltending legend Georges Vezina was near the end of his Hall of Fame career when he appeared on this V145-2 card but was still at the top of his game, backstopping the Montreal Canadiens to the Stanley Cup the previous season, while leading the NHL in shutouts and goals against average. He would be the GAA leader again in 1924-25, when this treasure came in with a Paterson’s Hockey League Bar. The 60-card set’s third most important/valuable card behind those of Morenz and Clancy is the Vezina, with this example of card #43 earning a mark of GOOD 2 for its effort. Displaying with some minor edge and corner wear considering the age as well as some minor toning, according to PSA's Population Report, the card is a POP 1 example with only twenty-four (24) ever having been inspected by the company throughout their history. Housed in a PSA holder that shows some imperfections over both sides, don't let this gem of one of the game's forefathers pass you and your all-important collection by!
