Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Captaining the Montreal Canadiens to back-to-back Stanley Cup championships in 1930 and 1931, Sylvio Mantha spent all but four games of his 14-season career with the Habs, playing a total of 538 games with Montreal in their famed red, white and blue colours between 1923 and 1936. Inducted into the hallowed halls of the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1960, offered here is this copy of Mantha's sought after rookie card that was part of the 1923-24 William Paterson V145-1 release. Pictured via a smart looking black-and-white posed image over the front, this copy of the desirable pre-war example has been assessed a mark of FR 1.5 from the graders at SGC. Showing surface, corner and edge wear with staining over both the front and reverse as well along with a faint pencil notation on the reverse, the card is housed in an SGC holder that shows in overall excellent condition for its effort, showing just minor scratches and scuffs over both sides that are worth mentioning for accuracy.
