Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Nicknamed “The Stratford Streak” due to the fact that no one had seen someone skate with such speed before, Howie Morenz would win three (3) Hart Memorial Trophy’s as the NHL’s MVP along with a trio of Stanley Cups with the Montreal Canadiens in 1924, 1930 and 1931. Up for grabs here, is this copy of Morenz’s rookie card from the 1923-24 William Paterson V145-1 set. Having been assessed by the graders at SGC who have awarded the card a mark of GD+ 2.5 after inspection, the 100-year-old relic shows a young Howie over the front and displays with a slight diamond cut. Sporting a blank reverse, the card shows with wear to all four (4) corners as well as edge wear all the way around and some staining/toning over both sides. The second most valuable card in the whole set though much more attainable than the RC of Bert Corbeau, the card is housed in an SGC holder that remains in good condition while showing a small number of scratches and scuffs over each side.
