Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
A member of the National Hockey League's "Original Six" and one of the most collected teams in hockey, the New York Rangers, also known simply as "The Blueshirts", have called the bright lights of New York City home since their founding in 1926 and have won a total of four (4) Stanley Cup's over that time with the most recent coming in 1994. With their famous blue jerseys staying virtually unchanged over the years since their inception except for a couple of occurrences, offered here is this Rangers pro-style jersey that dates from the era of the early-to-mid-1970s that could have been used in either practice or training camp or by a different team such as the Drummondville Rangers or Kitchener Rangers that shared the same name. A durene knit garment tagged over the inner collar by notable Rangers equipment provider Gerry Cosby, their label as well as a tattered size "48" swatch is found in place of the classic red, white and blue tie neck offering. Decorated over the front of the jersey with "Rangers" going diagonally down the chest in drop-shadow blue-over-red dual layer tackle twill letters, the reverse has been accented with the number "10" in matching style numerals. Void of a name over the upper reverse as well as numbers over the sleeves, a customized loop style fight strap is found on the interior. With its original white lace still fed through the eyelets of the collar, the jersey shows game wear via stick marks over the front, reverse and both sleeves, board burns and unreapired holes over both sleeves, team repairs over the left sleeve and lower reverse, a few small spot stains, the biggest of which is over the reverse hem and finally, pilling on the interior.
