Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
A fourteen time all-star and one of Quebec’s favourite sons, Maurice Richard would be elected to the Hockey Hall of Fame a season after retiring in 1961, with the Hall suspending the five-year grace period for eligibility, further attesting to his iconic status. A veteran of eighteen (18) National Hockey League seasons and 978 games played, all with the famed Montreal Canadiens, "Rocket" would help the Habs to a total of eight (8) Stanley Cup championships during his career and scored a then unheard of 544 goals over that time. Offered here, we present this card featuring Richard that hails from President's Choice's 2023 Solitaire 2.0 Update Series release. A "Solitaire Stars" offering that is serial numbered "1/1" at the bottom right hand corner over the front, an artistic image of Maurice also appears over the front of the card also while a swatch of red wool fabric cut from a jersey worn by him has been embedded into the front of the card. Found in its original raw ungraded form, the card remains in overall excellent condition with just some light touches of wear appearing over the corners and edges that is worth noting for accuracy.
