Playing his junior hockey as a member of the Ontario Hockey Association's St. Catharines Black Hawks before a single season in the NCAA with the University of Pennsylvania, Pierre Guite would go on to be drafted 26th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 1972 NHL Amateur Draft and play a total of 372 games in the rival league of the World Hockey Association with the likes of the Quebec Nordiques, Michigan Stags, Baltimore Blades, Cincinnati Stingers and Edmonton Oilers, winning an AVCO Cup championship with Quebec in 1977. Also having recorded a total of 585 penalty minutes throughout his time in the league, offered here is this Nordiques jersey worn by Guite during the 1973-74 season. Made by Tricot Sport Maska and featuring a partially detached brand label affixed to the inner collar along with an additional partially detached washing instructions label also, the desirable durene knit garment measures out to roughly a modern size "44". Decorated over the front of the jersey with a Nordiques team crest that has been administered in layered tackle twill, the sleeves and verso have been styled with Guite's number "6" in either single layer or dual layer tackle twill numerals while "Guite" is spelt out in single layer red twill letters across the affixed white twill nameplate at the top of the reverse. Featuring a crudely sewn in and reinforced/taped garter and leather loop style fight strap on the interior of the jersey, heavy game-wear is exhibited throughout its entirety via stick marks over the lower front and left sleeve as well as staining over the left sleeve, a couple of fabric runs, unrepaired holes, small spot stains, board burns, pilling on the interior and two (2) clumps of team repairs over the left elbow and another on the lower reverse. Additionally, there are additional large team repairs over the upper reverse and under the collar as well as under the "6" of the right sleeve, which shows a bit of damage at the bottom that is worth mentioning for accuracy.
