Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024

A product of the OMJHL/OHL's Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds who was drafted 42nd overall by the New York Islanders at the 1981 NHL Entry Draft, Gord Dineen would go on to a professional hockey career that would span the length of almost two (2) decades and see him play a total of 529 games in the National Hockey League with the likes of New York, Minnesota, Pittsburgh and Ottawa. Offered here, we present this Pittsburgh Penguins jersey worn by Dineen during the 1989-90 season as well as for a single game at the beginning of the 1990-91 campaign as well. Made by CCM, a Maska Ultrafil label that displays a heavily faded size "52" designation in blue ballpoint pen ink is affixed to the inner collar and also has had Dineen's number "5" penned over it in black marker ink. Having had both the CCM and NHL shield crests embroidered into the reverse hem, the front of the jersey is decorated with a familiar Penguins team crest that features embroidered details throughout its entirety while the 1990 NHL All-Star Game patch is in place atop the left shoulder. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Dineen's number "5" in dual layer tackle twill numerals, "Dineen" is spelt out in single layer black twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Retaining its fight strap on the interior, which also shows good pilling throughout, the jersey itself exhibits good game-wear via stick marks throughout the body and sleeves, board burns and coloured paint transfer marks over both sleeves, an unrepaired cut over the left elbow and additional board burns over the lower reverse, the jersey also shows spot staining throughout that is worth mentioning for accuracy.
