Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction February 2025

Far less often seen than O-Pee-Chee hockey cards from the same season are these posters from the 1971-72 season that were released by O-Pee-Chee, which came attached, two to a pack and which are supposed to measure just under 10” by just under 18”. Featuring the two dozen biggest stars of the day including Bobby Orr, Ken Dryden, Jacques Plante, Guy Lafleur, Tim Horton, Bobby Hull and others, this lot offers a complete set of 1971-72 O-Pee-Chee posters totaling twenty-four (24). All measuring roughly 10" x 18" for their efforts with some slightly larger or smaller and retaining good colours for their age making them visually attractive, the group remains in overall good condition despite some instances of hastily cut edges and even toning that is seen as being between light and moderate throughout, other things worth pointing out that are observed on some of the posters in the assembly include that they have all been rolled up plus small edge tears and fold lines/creases. Additionally, some of the posters making up the set also shows some minor stains that are worth mentioning for accuracy. For the more desirable examples of Orr, Dryden, Lafleur and Esposito, the Orr poster shows some edge wear, moderate toning, a small stain near the bottom left hand corner and heavy fold lines while the Dryden example shows lighter fold lines as well as light creases and lighter but still evident toning. Finally, for the posters of Lafleur and Esposito, the Lafleur example is in the same condition state as the Dryden, as is the Esposito poster other than that it also shows light edge wear all the way around. A neat complete set assembly of some seldom seen good shape poster examples, don't miss out on these for your all-important collection.
