Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction November 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/3/2024
A lot made with lovers of food premiums in mind and dating entirely from the era of the late-1960s to the early-1970s, offered here is this collection of food premium items that includes 1967-68 Post Flip Books (3), 1971-72 Post Shooters (3), 1972-73 Post Bobby Orr Hockey Action Transfers (8) and 1972-73 Letraset Action Transfers (24). For the flip books, released during the NHL's first expansion year of 1967-68, each measures roughly 1 1/4" x 2 3/4" and features one (1) Toronto and one (1) Montreal hockey star in action scenes taken from films of the 1966 Stanley Cup Playoffs. Including examples of Pulford/Backstrom, Pappin/Beliveau and Hillman/Rousseau, the books, inserted one (1) per box of Post pre-sweetened cereal, are in overall respectable shape, with the bindings of the Pulford/Backstrom and Pappin/Beliveau examples covered with tape for reinforcement while the Hillman/Rousseau book shows heavy wear throughout that is beyond what is typically seen. Next, are three (3) examples of the 1971-72 Post Shooters. Inserted one (1) per box of Post cereal, the generic plastic player molds present here have been covered by the once included stickers of Dennis Hull, Peter Mahovlich, and J, C. Tremblay. With both the molds and graphics found to be in overall excellent condition with just light wear present, an empty sticker sheet and two (2) small yellow "pucks" are also included. Finally, for the 1972-73 Post Bobby Orr Hockey Action Transfers and 1972-73 Letraset Action Transfers, found in groups of eight (8) and twenty-four (24) respectively, the Orr Post examples were found one (1) per box of cereal while the Letraset ones came in cello packs at a cost of .10 cents. With one (1) of the Orr Post transfers still sealed in its original bag, the Orr Post transfers include #'s 2, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9 and 12 while the Letraset transfers appear to make a complete set with the examples from both releases found in overall excellent condition with light corner and edge wear.
