Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Widely regarded as the best hockey player to ever live, Gordie Howe played an incredible 32 years of professional hockey in both the NHL and WHA, winning multiple championships in each league. A 21x All-Star, 6x Art Ross Trophy winner and 6x Hart Memorial Trophy winner as well as a Hockey Hall of Fame inductee in 1972, offered here is this pairing of cards that have both been signed by Howe and feature pieces of memorabilia worn by him during his career. Hailing from In The Game's 2001-02 BAP Ultimate Memorabilia 2nd Edition release, offered here is this "500 Goal Scorers" card signed by Howe which also features a piece of material cut from a jersey worn by him embedded into the front of it. Showing Howe with the Red Wings in the late-1960s, a red swatch of durene fabric has been embedded into the front of the card alongside Howe's image while the front has also been signed by Gordie with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue and includes his famed "Mr. Hockey" moniker in matching ink and condition. Found in its original raw ungraded condition, the card remains in good condition overall with just light wear to the corners and edges worth mentioning for accuracy while some minor marks also appear over the front surface as well.
