A star in the National Hockey League after playing a lone season in the World Hockey Association with the Birmingham Bulls, Michel Goulet would go on to play a total of 1089 games over the course of his NHL career with the likes of the Quebec Nordiques and Chicago Blackhawks, recording eight (8) straight 30+ goal seasons between 1980-81 and 1987-88. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1998, Goulet would answer the call of Team Canada on a trio of occasions throughout his career, representing his country at both the 1984 and 1987 Canada Cup tournaments and helping Canada to victory over the Soviet Union in 1987. Offered here, we present this Team Canada jersey worn by Goulet at the 1987 Canada Cup tournament. Made by CCM, a Maska label is affixed to the inner collar while the CCM logo is embroidered into the reverse hem. Measuring out to roughly a size "52" and retaining its fight strap on the interior, the front of the jersey is decorated with a rubberized Team Canada crest and sleeve emblems that remain in good condition overall while exhibiting cracking over each but no other flaking or damage. Having had a "Labatt Couple Canada Cup" patch affixed over the right breast, the verso has been styled with Goulet's number "16" in single layer white twill numerals while "Goulet" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Signed by Goulet though the "6" on the reverse with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue, the jersey displays game-wear in the form of stick marks, board burns and small unrepaired cuts/holes over the front and both sleeves as well as coloured board paint transfers over the right forearm and light pilling on the interior inside the reverse hem. Having been photo-matched to images of Goulet taken during Team Canada's round robin contest on September 4th, 1987 against Team Sweden that show a match to the light stick mark to the right of the "D" in "Canada" on the main part of the crest, the jersey will come accompanied by a Classic Auctions LOA.
