Slightly less common that other sets of the 1970s and relying on large player photos, the 1973 Topps baseball release features a checklist of 660-cards in all, a 127 card decrease from the previous year. With the rookie card of Mike Schmidt being the highlight of the set, along with the last active baseball card appearance for Willie Mays, offered here is this complete set of the 1973 Topps baseball release. All housed in older plastic binder sheets and appearing to present in the overall uniform condition range of VG to VG-EX and VG-EX to EX throughout with some lower grade cards mixed in throughout the contingent as well, the rookie card of Schmidt, card #615 in the checklist, is seen as being in the range of GOOD due to a scuffed surface and corner wear while the Mays card, #305, is seen as being around EX to EX-MT for its effort. For the rest of the key cards, included are the examples of 1-Ruth/Aaron/Mays (FR to G - HR leaders - creased and off-center), 50-Clemente (GOOD - last card - crease), 100-Aaron (VG to VG-EX - ding to top left corner), 130-Rose (PR to F - creases and gum stain on the reverse), 142-Munson (FR to G - corners and light creases), 174-Gossage RC (GOOD - light crease), 190-Gibson (VG to VG-EX - slight wear to the right border), 220-Ryan (VG to VG-EX - light corner wear and off-center on the reverse), 230-Morgan (GOOD - left side corners worn), 245-Yastrzemski (VG to VG-EX - ding to bottom left corner), 255-Jackson (VG to VG-EX - off-center and corner wear), 380-Bench (PR to FR - rounded corners), 473-Aaron (VG to VG-EX - all-time leaders and corner wear) and 556-Yankees (EX to EX-MT). The last Topps set to be released in a multiple series format, the assembly is sure to be a fun trip back in time for our lucky winning bidder.
