Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Regarded by many to this day as the greatest hockey player to ever lace up a pair of skates, the name Gordie Howe is synonymous with the game loved and played by so many across the world. In a career that spanned over five different decades from 1946-71 and 1973-80, fans and players alike will still find Howe’s name near the top of the all-time leaderboards all these years later. Also still one of the most collectable and collected players in the hobby, offered here is this group of seven (7) patch/jersey cards all featuring swatches of memorabilia pertaining to "Mr. Hockey". Hailing from Upper Deck products released between 2000-01 and 2006-07, all the included cards picture Howe during his days with the NHL's Detroit Red Wings or as a WHA All-Star, the group includes a pair of "Legendary Game Jersey" examples from releases such as UD's 2000-01 Legends release that contain pieces of a WHA All-Star Game jersey worn by Howe in 1979, 2003-04 Upper Deck Trilogy in the form of "Crest of Honor" manufactured patches, including a limited parallel numbered "02/30", a 2006-07 Upper Deck Trilogy "Honorary Swatches" and finally, a 2005-06 Upper Deck SP Game-Used "Authentic Fabrics - Dual Patch" card of both Howe and Wayne Gretzky that features patch swatches from jerseys worn by each player that is numbered "18/35". All highly desirable cards and found in their original raw ungraded forms, each remains in overall excellent condition with just light wear to the edges, corners and surfaces that is worth noting for accuracy.
