Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Playing his junior hockey with both the Belleville Bulls and the Detroit Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League, Dan Preston would play professionally with the St. John's Maple Leafs of the AHL and Dayton Bombers plus Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL during his career while also playing overseas with the Manchester Storm in England. Offered here, we present this Whalers jersey worn by Preston during the club's inaugural season of 1995-96. Made by CCM and sporting both Maska and size "54" labels affixed to the inner collar, the logos of both the CHL and CCM have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front of the garment with a Whalers team crest, the sleeves and verso have been styled with Preston's number "27" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals while "Preston" is spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate that is in place at the top of the reverse. Retaining its fight strap on the interior, the jersey shows game-wear via numerous board burns and stick marks as well as red coloured board paint transfers and unrepaired cuts/holes plus pilling on the interior.
