Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Founded in 1959 in the era of the Soviet Union as YaMZ Yaroslavl, the Lokomotiv Yaroslavl hockey club has won three (3) Russian Super League titles in their history and been the runner up for the KHL's Gagarin Cup on a pair of occasions. Losing their entire 2011-12 season after a tragic air accident caused all but one (1) person on the roster to perish, the squad returned to the top level of competition the following year, playing well enough to qualify for the 2013 Gagarin Cup Playoffs. Offered here, we present this KHL Lokomotiv Yaroslavl jersey worn at times throughout the year by goalie Nikita Lozhkin. Made by Reebok and displaying "Goalie Style" and size "58" labels affixed to the inner collar along with an additional Reebok tag as well while a Reebok logo patch appears over the reverse neckline. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a Lokomotiv Yaroslavl team crest in layered tackle twill, a memorial ribbon to honour the victims of the plane crash the previous year has been added over the left breast. Having had sponsorship logos added to the sleeves, shoulders, lower front and lower reverse, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have been styled with Lozhkin's number "66" in dual layer tackle twill numerals while "Lozhkin" has been spelt out in single layer white twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Retaining its fight strap on the interior and having had a KHL league logo crest placed at the bottom of the collar, the jersey shows just light game-wear via puck marks over the front and both sleeves, a small unrepaired hole over the front and some small board burns over the forearm areas of both sleeves. Of note, Lozhkin did not see any game action at the KHL level that year and would have only worn this jersey in warm-ups and as the back up on any given night that he was recalled to the main roster from the VHL team of the same name.
