This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
An excellent trio of game used lumber once wielded by key members of Edmonton Oilers teams of the 1990s, offered here is this collection of three (3) game-used sticks that includes examples from Glenn Anderson, Craig Simpson and Janne Niinimaa. With all three sticks still showcasing their original tape jobs over the knobs/handles as well as the blades, each stick has had their respective owners surname stamped to the upper shaft with the Anderson and Simpson examples also having their numbers stamped alongside as well. A mix of Sher-Wood (Anderson), Victoriaville (Simpson) and Nike (Niinimaa) models, all three (3) sticks have been signed by their original user with black marker ink signatures that display well despite some fading from age while the Niinimaa stick is a team-signed example from the 1999-00 season that has been signed by approx. 23 including names such as Doug Weight, Ryan Smyth and Roman Hamrlik among many others. With the Anderson stick dating to the 1990-91 season, the Simpson stick dates to the early-1990s, circa 1990-91 as well based on photos. For the Simpson and Niinimaa examples, both are still fully intact with no cracks or breaks while the Anderson stick is cracked/broken in both the shaft and underneath the blade tape. All three (3) of the sticks show good game-use through various marks and abrasions.
Additionally, also included with the trio of gamers is a commemorative stick from Mark Messier's Edmonton Oilers jersey retirement on February 27th, 2007. A full-sized example painted in a navy blue colour with Messier and Oilers graphics over both sides of the blade and shaft, the original price sticker is still affixed to the backside of the upper shaft and the stick is in overall good condition while showing some wear via marks/abrasions from handling/age.
