The first series of cards issued by Topps in their large and in charge "tall-boys" release for the 1964-65 season of National Hockey League play, offered here is this starter set of first (1st) series examples from that season which includes twenty-eight (28) of the fifty-five (55) cards that make up the checklist. With the group found to largely be in the condition range of VG to VG-EX throughout, missing for a complete first (1st) series set are cards; 2, 3, 5, 7, 8, 11, 14, 15, 17, 20, 22, 27, 28, 29, 32, 33, 34, 39, 40, 42, 44, 46, 48, 50, 52, 54 and 55. For the key cards, present are the notable examples of 1-Martin (VG to VG-EX - corner wear), 6-Sawchuk (VG to VG-EX - small print mark at the top and a light bend in the area of the bottom border), 12-Hall (VG to VG-EX - top left corner ding and light corner wear), 24-Gilbert (EX to EX-MT - slight corner wear and wax staining), 31-Mikita (EX to EX-MT - slight corner wear) and 47-Crozier (FR to G - crease down the left hand side). With around five (5) of the remaining common cards in the lesser condition ranges of FR to G and GOOD for their effort, also included with the lot is a group of sixteen (16) extra first (1st) series examples that are largely in the vicinity of VG to VG-EX with around seven (7) cards found to be closer to G to VG. A classic set that is sure to take you on a wonderful trip down memory lane and enhance your all-important vintage collection.
