Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Always a challenging and inviting set for collectors to build, an overall fairly pleasing near-complete assembly of Topps' 1967-68 hockey release is up for grabs here, headlined by PSA graded examples of Bobby Orr's key second year card, found at #92 in the checklist, as well as Checklist 67-132. Starting with the graded offerings, the Orr card, having been assessed a mark of VG-EX 4 after assessment retains excellent colours and overall pleasing centering while being hampered by slight corner wear, a ding to the bottom right corner on the reverse and the tiniest wrinkle at the top right hand corner on the reverse as well. For the checklist, the card has been deemed worthy of PSA's near perfect grade of MINT 9 and shows everything one would expect of a high-grade example. Both the PSA holders remain in excellent condition as well with just minor imperfections over both sides. For the rest of the set, a grouping of overall high-grade cards found largely in the condition vicinity of EX-MT to NM, included are the key offerings of 1-Worsley (VG-EX to EX - ding at the left hand side of the top border), 3-Lemaire RC (VG-EX to EX - off-center and ding to top left corner), 11-Keon (VG-EX to EX - print marks over the left border and bad printing on the word "Toronto"), 16-Horton (EX-MT to NM - wax stain), 70-Cournoyer (EX-MT to NM), 72-Richard (EX-MT to NM), 74-Beliveau (EX-MT to NM), 75-Vachon RC (EX-MT to NM), 76-Bower (EX-MT to NM - light black "snow"), 85-Giacomin (EX-MT to NM - slightly off-center), 90-Gilbert (EX-MT to NM - wax stain), 114-Mikita (EX-MT to NM - 60-40 centering both side-to-side and top-to-bottom), 124-Hull (VG to VG-EX - left border damage and wax staining), 129-Hall AS (EX-MT to NM - 60-40 centering), 131-Howe AS (EX to EX-MT - small elastic mark over the borders).
