Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Combining to help the Montreal Canadiens to Stanley Cup championships in 1973, 1976, 1977, 1978 and 1979, Guy Lafleur and Steve Shutt would both go on to be inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, occurring in 1988 and 1993 respectively. Offered here, we present this lot of Lafleur and Shutt rookie cards that have been individually signed by the players being showcased over their fronts. Hailing from the 1971-72 and 1974-75 O-Pee-Chee hockey releases, the Lafleur card is found at #148 in the 1971-72 checklist while the Shutt appears at #316 of the 1974-75 set. Both having been signed over their fronts with blue marker ink signatures that appear without issue, both cards have been encapsulated in Beckett holders that remain in overall excellent condition. With both signatures having been deemed to be "authentic" by Beckett, the Shutt example has also been assessed a mark of "10" for its effort. Of note, only the autograph has earned a grade and not either of the two (2) cards themselves. In terms of condition for the cards, the Lafleur rookie shows some light corner and edge wear as well as toning while the Shutt card shares much of the same story but also includes some minor surface wear on the reverse.
