Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
The first goaltender to be credited with scoring a goal and a menace to anyone that came around his crease, Billy Smith would spend 17 prosperous seasons on Long Island, winning 4 Stanley Cups and being enshrined in hockey’s holy house in 1993. Offered here, is this lot that includes both of Smith's 1973-74 rookie cards from O-Pee-Chee and Topps that have been signed by the man himself. Falling at #142 in the O-Pee-Chee set and #162 in the Topps release, Smith has signed over the front of each card with a black marker ink signature, with both autographs displaying without issue. Both deemed to be "authentic autographs" by Beckett, it is important to note that neither the signatures nor the cards have been assessed technical grades. Both housed in Beckett holders that remain in overall excellent condition, the cards themselves show with images that are off-center a bit as well as corner and edge wear that is important to note for accuracy.
