Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Key cogs in the wheel that propelled the New York Islanders to four (4) straight Stanley Cup championships between 1980 and 1983, Bryan Trottier and Mike Bossy would combine to play a total of 2031 games in the National Hockey League. Both inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 1997 and 1991 respectively, offered here is this lot consisting of the O-Pee-Chee and Topps rookie cards with all four (4) of the included specimens signed over their fronts by the featured player. Hailing from the 1976-77 (Trottier) and 1978-79 (Bossy) seasons, each has been signed with either a black or blue marker ink signature with all four (4) displaying well though it needs to be mentioned that the 1978-79 O-Pee-Chee Bossy example's autograph shows with fading. All housed in Beckett holders with all the signatures deemed to be "authentic" by the company, the signatures gracing the front of both Trottier examples have been assessed autograph grades of "10" for their efforts. Of note, only the two (2) Trottier signatures have been graded, not the four (4) cards themselves. In terms of card condition, both of the O-Pee-Chee cards are in FR range shape with edge, corner and surface wear as well as creasing, which is heaviest on the Bossy card, while Bossy's Topps card shows a bit of surface wear. Finally, all the Beckett holders are seen as being in overall excellent condition.
