Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Playing all four (4) years of his junior hockey as a member of the Ontario Hockey League's Peterborough Petes, Kris King would be drafted 80th overall by the Washington Capitals in the 1984 NHL Entry Draft and go on to a National Hockey League career that saw him play in 849 games over the course of fourteen (14) seasons, suiting up for Detroit, New York, Winnipeg, Phoenix, Toronto and Chicago over that span, recording 2030 penalty minutes as well. Offered here, we present this IHL Chicago Wolves jersey worn by King during the 1999-2000 season of play. Made by Bauer, a pair of brand labels are affixed to the inner collar along with a size "54" fly tag as well. Having had both Bauer and IHL logos embroidered into the reverse hem with an additional Bauer logo embroidered over the left breast, the front of the jersey is decorated with a three dimensional (3D) Wolves logo that features heavily embroidered details throughout. Also sporting a Clark sponsorship patch over the right breast and matching Wolves crests over both shoulders, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have been accented with King's number "9" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals while "King" is spelt out in single layer maroon twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Of note, there is evidence of a former longer nameplate that was once in place at the top of the reverse as well. Twice signed by King over the front and through the "9" on the reverse in black marker ink that displays well, the jersey displays good game-wear via stick marks over the body and sleeves as well as board burns over both sleeves, blue coloured board paint transfer marks over the right side and pilling on the interior while the original fight strap is still present on the interior.
