Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
The very thing that the game is built off of chasing around a sheet of ice, it is easy to say that without the puck itself there would be no hockey as we know it. Offered here, we present this collection of rubber hailing from the personal collection of former WHA and NHL referee, Ron Fournier, that includes examples from the NHL, AHL, CHL and QMJHL among others that totals out to 35. Included, we have one (1) 1962-64 Art Ross Tyer "Round Crested Patent #", one (1) 1969-77 Art Ross Converse screened logo (Philadelphia), one (1) CCM practice puck (Montreal - double sided), fourteen (14) 1973-83 Viceroy rubber shield reverse pucks (New York, Minnesota, Calgary, Toronto, Winnipeg, St. Louis x2, Colorado, Vancouver, New York, New Jersey, Los Angeles, Pittsburgh and Philadelphia), twelve (12) 1980-84 Viceroy InGlasCo V3 slug approved reverse pucks (New Jersey x2, Colorado x3, Buffalo, Boston, Washington, Edmonton, Hartford, Canucks and Detroit), one (1) AHL InGlasCo 1986-93 IG1 InGlasCo shield reverse puck (Baltimore - version "b" w/ black and gold logo), one (1) CHL 1980-83 CZ2 large white CHL reverse puck (Oklahoma City Stars), one (1) QMJHL 1980-92 IG2 white circle QMJHL reverse (Chicoutimi Sagueneens), one (1) 1984 Canada Cup General Tire blank reverse GT1 puck and three (3) other various pucks as well. In terms of condition, majority of the lot shows either varying degrees of wear or dirtiness to the logos with some better and some worse than others while for the pucks themselves many show surface wear or staining/marks while a small number also show physical defects such as cuts/gashes or chunks missing. Hailing from Fournier's personal collection, a Classic Auctions LOA will accompany the piece.
