This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
A release comprised of a 396-card checklist, O-Pee-Chee's 1984-85 hockey card release features one of the most impressive rookie card crops of the decade, led by the likes of Steve Yzerman but also including first year specimens of players such as Chris Chelios, Tom Barrasso, Cam Neely, Pat LaFontaine and Doug Gilmour among others. Offered here, we present this grouping of signed cards from the 1984-85 set that totals out to more than 135 examples. With the included cards seen as being in the overall uniform condition range of EX-MT to NM throughout its entirety, the contingent of key cards includes those of 24-Perreault (EX-MT - very ting corner dings - blue ballpoint pen ink signature), 67-Yzerman RC (x3 - one around EX-MT with a very tiny top right corner ding and a blue marker ink signature, one around EX-MT to NM that is miscut at the top and has a black marker ink signature and finally another that is EX-MT to NM range that is off-center top-to-bottom and has a black marker ink signature), 70-Francis RC (x2 - both around EX-MT to NM with one off-center top-to-bottom while both have black ballpoint pen ink signatures), 206-Stevens (G to VG - corner wear - black marker ink signature), 210-Langway AS (EX-MT to NM - heavily faded blue ballpoint pen ink signature), 259-Chelios RC (x2 - both around EX-MT - one has a small bottom right corner ding while the other has very slight corner wear - both have blue ballpoint pen ink signatures), 257-Carbonneau (EX to EX-MT - 60-40 centering and a small bend at top right corner - blue ballpoint pen ink signature), 280-Goulet (EX-MT to NM - blue ballpoint pen ink signature), 360-Lafleur GL (EX-MT to NM - blue ballpoint pen ink signatures) and 385-Yzerman RCL (EX-MT to NM - 60-40 centering - black marker ink signature). With all the cards signed with a mix of marker and ballpoint pen ink signatures that are found to display well overall though some show things like fading/lightness and smudging, the rest of the assembly also includes a group of three (3) Pat Verbeek rookie cards that are all signed with blue ballpoint pen ink signatures. Of note, the group is accompanied by a JSA Auction LOA that is for the first group of fourteen (14) cards listed above.
