Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/25/2024
Selected first overall by the Buffalo Sabres at the 1987 NHL Entry Draft after playing his junior hockey as a member of the QMJHL's Granby Bisons, Pierre Turgeon would suit up for six different franchises in the NHL, posting better than point-per-game numbers over the course of his 19-season career with 1327 points in 1294 games. Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2023, offered here is this stick used by Turgeon as a member of the Buffalo Sabres in the era of the late-1980s/early-1990s. A Titan made TPM 3020 model twig that has seen the majority of the shaft be painted black, "P. Turgeon" is stamped over the upper shaft while the stick retains its original tape job of white over the knob and blade. Having been signed by Turgeon over the forehand side of the blade with a black ballpoint pen ink signature and showing an unreadable date stamp on the underside of the shaft near the bottom, the stick, also still keeping its foil accent sticker near the bottom of the shaft, shows game-wear via a number of marks and abrasions throughout the shaft, lower shaft, heel and toe while a small number of puck marks are present over both sides of the blade tape as well. Of note, a pair of hole have been drilled into the shaft for the purpose of mounting. Originally gifted to former NHLer Mike Walton and displayed in his Toronto bar/restaurant, the stick will come with a Classic Auctions LOA.
