Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
With an explosive breakout season in 1992-93 with Winnipeg, Teemu Selanne finished his rookie campaign with an astounding 132 points in 84 games, and he would finish his 22-year career with 1457 combined goals and assists, averaging more than a point a game. Routinely wearing the blue and white of Team Finland in international competition, Selanne, a 2017 inductee to both the Hockey Hall of Fame and IIHF Hall of Fame, would help his birth country to medals at four (4) editions of the Winter Olympic Games and a pair (2) of IIHF World Championships. A Stanley Cup champion with the Anaheim Ducks in 2007, offered here is this stick used by Selanane as a member of the Ducks during the 1999-2000 season. A Sher-Wood P.M.P. 7000 model in white and natural wood that was only used by Selanne for a short amount of time before picking up Titan once again. Selanne is shown using this model of stick during the 2000 NHL All-Star Game weekend with no images we could find showing him using that particular model of stick during the season. "Selanne 8" factory graphics are found over the shaft while additional factory graphics reading "Exclusively Handcrafted For Teemu Selanne 8" is found on the underside of the shaft as well. Retaining its original black tape job over the lightly shaved down handle/knob, the original black blade tape has been removed to facilitate Selanne's black marker ink signature that he has penned over the forehand side of the blade and dated "2000" in matching ink. Also having added an annotation reading "Best Wishes" in matching ink, both the autograph and inscription display well and without issue. Displaying with just light game-use via a few marks and abrasions over the shaft, lower shaft and heel, the stick, originally gifted to former NHLer Mike Walton and displayed in his bar/restaurant, will come accompanied by a Classic Auctions LOA.
