Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024

One of only five American-born players to score 500 goals, Keith Tkachuk appeared in over 1000 NHL contests and earned a pair of 50-goal seasons. A gold medalist with Team USA at the 1996 World Cup of Hockey and a silver medalist on home soil at the 2002 Winter Olympic Games that would also play in five (5) NHL All-Star Games over the course of his career, offered here is this stick used by Tkachuk as a member of the Phoenix Coyotes. Hailing from circa the 1996-97 season, the first year of play for the Coyotes, the stick is a Louisville TPS made twig that shows a heavily faded "Tkachuk" name stamp over the upper shaft and a handwritten "7 Keith T" notation in black marker ink that displays well under the original black handle/knob tape. Having had its handle shaft down to Tkachuk's liking, the original black coloured blade tape has been removed to facilitate Keith's black marker ink signature and inscription that reads "To Shakey's - All My Best" over the forehand side. With residue of the original blade tape still present, the autograph and inscription both show fading from age that is worthy of mention for accuracy. Originally gifted to Mike Walton and displayed in his bar/restaurant called "Shakey's" in Toronto, the stick shows good game-use via numerous dark marks and abrasions throughout its entirety along with a couple of small chips over the shaft as well.
