Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024

Leading the Nashville franchise for both wins and shutouts, Pekka Rinne can also claim the most NHL career wins for any Finnish netminder, with a Vezina Trophy won by the Kempel native, in 2018. Originally drafted 258th overall by the Predators in 2004 and spending his entire career in "The Country Music Capital", Rinne would be named to four (4) NHL All-Star Games during his career and suit up for his homeland, Finland, on numerous occasions as well. Offered here, we present this stick used by Rinne during the 2014-15 season. A Warrior made Swagger model twig with "Rinne" stamped to the upper shaft, the stick retains its original tape job of black wrapped around the knob and white around the handle and blade. Of note, Rinne is not known to have used black on the knobs of his sticks but the stick has come to us from a very trusted individual in the Finnish hockey scene. Exhibiting good game-use via puck marks over both sides of the shaft, paddle and blade, cracks/chips are present over the top edge of the paddle near the top of it and about two thirds of the way up the shaft. Also showing blue and/or red colored paint transfer marks over both sides of the shaft and paddle as well as some chips to the graphics near the heel, Rinne has signed over the heel on the forehand side of the stick with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue. A Classic Auctions LOA will accompany the piece.
