Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
After a season without hockey cards, kids and others must have been excited/smiling when they first saw Parkhurst packs in stores in 1957, with the Canadiens and Maple Leafs featured and Maurice Richard appearing on wax pack display boxes. Offered here in near-complete set form with forty-three (43) of the fifty (50) cards that make up the checklist present and accounted for, is this assembly of Parkhurst's 1957-58 release. Missing the Montreal cards of 1-Harvey, 5-Maurice Richard, 10-St-Laurent and 23-Pucks and Sticks High plus the Toronto offerings 2-Chadwick, 3-Duff and 5-Sloan for completion, the set is paced by a group of eleven (11) notable cards, including the key rookie cards of 4-H. Richard (multiple creases, edge wear and corner dings/rounding), 17-Mahovlich (multiple creases, edge wear and corner dings/rounding) as well as 15-Plante (multiple creases, edge wear and corner dings/rounding), 3-Beliveau (multiple creases, edge wear and corner dings/rounding plus surface wear), 20-Baun (multiple creases, edge wear and corner dings/rounding), 17-Hodge (multiple creases, edge wear and corner dings/rounding plus a light stain on the reverse), 18-Moore (multiple creases plus corner wear), 2-Geoffrion (multiple creases, edge wear and corner dings/rounding plus surface wear and fading), 1-Armstrong (multiple creases, edge wear and corner wear), 4-Pulford (multiple creases, edge wear and corner dings/rounding plus factory print lines) and 22-multiple creases, edge wear and corner dings/rounding plus pencil marks over the front). For the rest of the set, the cards are all found to be in a low-grade condition state overall with many in the range of POOR but going as high as GOOD in some instances, with majority of the cards displaying creases and wear to their corners in addition to other things. Overall, a pleasing trip down memory lane awaits our lucky winning bidder.
