Drafted 4th overall by the Pittsburgh Penguins at the 1986 National Hockey League Entry Draft, Zarley Zalapski would play eleven years in the NHL, siting up for Pittsburgh, Hartford, Calgary, Montreal and Philadelphia during that time. Registering a total of 384 points during his time in the league and playing in the 1993 NHL All-Star Game, offered here is this Calgary Flames jersey worn by Zalapski during his final season with the club in 1997-98 before being traded to Montreal. Made by CCM and showcasing a lone size "52" fly tag affixed to the inner collar, both the CCM and NHL shield logos have been embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front of the sweater with Calgary's familiar team crest in layered tackle twill, the sleeves and verso have been accented with Zalapski's number "33" in either dual layer or tri-layer tackle twill numerals while "Zalapski" is spelt out in dual layer white-over-black tackle twill letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Retaining its original fight strap on the interior and showcasing a Flames team stamp that denotes the jersey as a "1996-1997 N.H.L. Season - Red Jersey #2 of 2" offering inside the reverse hem, the jersey shows just light wear via some board burns/unrepaired holes over both sleeves that are heaviest on the left arm near the cuff and elbow while light stick marks appears over the lower front and right elbow as well. Also showing stains and fabric snags throughout the entirety of the piece and some salting in the snaps of the fight strap, it is important to note that Zalapski only played in the first two (2) games of the 1996-97 season before losing the rest of the year to a knee injury and it is possible that the jersey was recycled for use into the next year's pre-season based on the wear that is observed.
