The 6th overall pick of the 1980 National Hockey League Entry Draft by the Edmonton Oilers after playing his junior hockey in the OMJHL with the likes of Kingston, Sault Ste. Marie and Kitchener, Paul Coffey would suit up for a total of 1409 games in the National Hockey League between 1980 and 2001, donning the colours of Edmonton, Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Detroit, Hartford, Philadelphia, Chicago, Carolina and Boston. A four-time Stanley Cup champion who was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2004, offered here is this stick used by Coffey during the early part of the 1991-92 season. A Sher-Wood P.M.P. 5030 model twig with "Coffey 77" graphics over the shaft, the stick retains its original tape job of aged black around the handle/knob while white is wrapped around the blade. Retaining an intact NHL foil accent sticker over the bottom of the shaft and displaying a date stamp reading "07 JUIL 1991" over the underside of the lower shaft, the stick shows game-use via a few dark/coloured marks and other abrasions throughout the shaft, lower shaft, heel and both sides of the blade tape.
Additionally, also included with the Coffey stick is a Dale Hawerchuk offering that has been signed by him and was issued to him for his use in the early-1980s. Made by Koho and having had "Hawerchuk" stamped over the upper shaft, a production code of "016X" (the last number is unknown) appears over the underside of the lower shaft as well. Retaining a pair of stripping accent stickers around the shaft and never having been taped and remaining in overall excellent condition with just light wear observed from handling and age via a few marks/abrasions throughout, Hawerchuk has signed over the forehand side of the blade with a large black marker ink signature that displays well despite minor fading and has added an inscription alongside it reading "To Ron - Best Wishes" in matching ink.
