Playing his junior hockey with the Prince Albert Raiders of the Western Hockey League and drafted 143rd overall by the New York Islanders at the 1986 NHL Entry Draft, Rich Pilon would go on to play a total of 631 games in the National Hockey League with the likes of the Islanders, Rangers and Blues. Offered here, we present this Islanders jersey issued to Pilon during the 1996-97 season that has been signed by twenty-one (21) members of the 1996-97 Islanders. Made by CCM with a single size “54” tag affixed inside the collar, the logos of CCM and the NHL shield have been embroidered into the rear hem. Decorated over the front with the infamous Islanders “Fisherman” crest that lasted only two seasons and matching light house alternate logo patches over both shoulders, the glue outline of a larger front logo that once graced the jersey is seen around the edge of the smaller one that the team put in its place. Adding to the appeal, the jersey hails from the Islanders 25th anniversary season with their anniversary patch commemorating the occasion seen over the right breast. Styled over the sleeves and verso with Pilon's number "45" in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals, "Pilon" has been spelt out across the affixed matching nameplate in single layer navy twill letters. Not signed on the interior behind the crest by Islanders equipment manager Joe McMahon and having been widened with custom inserts sewn onto the bottom of the sleeves, the jersey remains in good condition overall with a couple of marks over both sleeves that are not associated with game-use and some minor spot stains throughout. Having been signed around the crest on the front by twenty-one (21) members of the 1996-97 Islanders, those that have signed the piece include; Travis Green, Zigmund Palffy, Nick Vachon, Doug Houda, Paul Kruse, Niklas Andersson, Bryan Smolinski, Bryan McCabe, Bryan Berard, Derek King, Scott Lachance, Claude Lapointe, Tommy Salo, Marty McInnis, Brent Hughes, Randy Wood, Derek Armstrong, Dan Plante, Kenny Jonsson, Eric Fichaud and one (1) that cannot be identified. All the autographs remain vivid and legible.
