Playing his junior hockey with the Flin Flon Bombers before being taken 3rd overall by the Boston Bruins at the 1970 NHL Amateur Draft, Reggie Leach would go on to play a total of 934 games in the National Hockey League with the likes of Boston, California, Philadelphia and Detroit, winning a Stanley Cup with the "Broad Street Bullies" in 1975 as well as a Conn Smyth Trophy in 1976 in a losing effort to the Montreal Canadiens. Nicknamed "The Chief" during his career, offered here is this Detroit Red Wings jersey worn by Leach during the 1982-83 season, his lone campaign in "The Motor City" and the last of his NHL career. Made by Maska, both brand and East Side Sporting Goods labeling is affixed to the inner collar while the Maska logo has been embroidered into the reverse hem as well. Also including a size "50" label affixed to the interior on the right shoulder seam, the front of the red and white Ultrafil material garment is decorated with Detroit's famed winged-wheel team crest that features embroidered detailing throughout while the sleeves and verso have been accented with Leach's number "27" in single layer unique white cursive style twill numerals utilized only during the 1982-83 season. Sporting "Leach” arching across the upper reverse in matching material and featuring a ribbon style fight strap on the interior, the jersey exhibits excellent game-wear throughout its entirety, stick marks are observed over the front, reverse and both sleeves while team repairs totaling out to approx. fifteen (15) are strewn throughout the left sleeve, front and lower reverse. Also displaying wear via board burns, coloured board paint transfers and small unrepaired cuts and holes as well as some light spot stains, good pilling is found on the interior and Leach has signed through the top of the "7" on the reverse with a black marker ink signature that displays without issue.
