A product of the heavyweight Boston University Terries hockey program where he helped the school to an NCAA National Championship in 1995, Chris Drury, drafted 72nd overall by the Quebec Nordiques at the 1994 NHL Entry Draft, Chris Drury would go on to play a total of 892 games in the National Hockey League, wearing the uniforms of Colorado, Calgary, Buffalo and New York over that time. the Calder Memorial Trophy winner in 1999 and a Stanley Cup champion in 2001, Drury has also won a pair of silver medals at the Winter Olympic Games, representing the red, white and blue of Team USA in 2002 and 2010. Offered here, and once originating from the personal collection of an important Colorado hockey executive, is this photo-matched Avalanche jersey worn by Drury during his sophomore season of 1999-2000. A mesh construction offering made by Pro Player, a brand label that carries an "Authentic Collection" designation is affixed to the inner collar along with a fly tag that showcases size "54" and "Made in Canada" notations as well. Displaying the logos of both Pro Player and the NHL that have been embroidered into the reverse hem, the front of the jersey is decorated with an Avalanche team crest that features embroidered details throughout while matching alternate logo patches have been added over both shoulders. Featuring the NHL2000 patch that was worn by all the leagues teams throughout the course of the season over the right breast, the sleeves and verso have had Drury's number "37" sewn to them in stacked tri-layer tackle twill numerals, with "Drury" having been spelt out in single layer black tackle twill letters across the affixed matching and arching nameplate at the top of the reverse. With a small "I" penned over the neck label to denote the jersey as being a first set offering, the garment shows excellent game-use throughout including stick marks over the front, reverse and both sleeves, team repairs over the right sleeve, small unrepaired holes near the left elbow, light board burns over both sleeves and a small blue coloured board paint transfer over the left elbow as well. Having had the sleeves shortened to Drury's liking and showing fraying around the elbows on the interior plus pilling around the hem, the jersey has been photo-matched with Getty Image #72281336 (November 5th, 1999 vs New York) to stick marks over the left and right arms as well as a mostly washed out one in between the numbers on the reverse.
