A veteran of 679 National Hockey League contests with both the Vancouver Canucks and New Jersey Devils after Vancouver drafted him 175th overall in 1980, Patrik Sundstrom would also present his native Sweden on numerous occasions, medaling at tournaments including the World Juniors, World Championships and Canada Cup. Offered here, we present this Team Sweden jersey worn by Sundstrom at the 1984 Canada Cup, including during the Finals that saw Team Canada come out on top over the Scandinavian nation. A lightweight mesh and knit construction offering made by Sportjohan, a brand label displaying a size "5" designation (roughly a modern size "52") is affixed to the inner collar. Sporting a yellow collar around the neck, the front of the jersey is decorated with Sweden's familiar three crowns team crest in a screened on style while the sleeves and verso have been accented with Sundstrom's number "17" in heat-pressed on blue numerals. Having had "Sundstrom" spelt out in heat-pressed on single layer blue letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse, the jersey, void of any kind of fight strap on the interior, shows excellent game-wear throughout via stick marks over the front, reverse and both sleeves, pilling over the front and both forearms, small unrepaired cut over the left sleeves, a team repair over the right forearm, board burns over both sleeves and coloured board paint transfer marks over both sleeves, the interior of the jersey also shows pilling that is worth mentioning for accuracy as well. Regarding the photo-matches, the jersey is matched to an image of Sundstrom taken during Sweden's round-robin match against Team Canada on September 6th, 1984 that shows the long stick mark over the left side of the reverse while an included Photo Match Evaluation from Sports Investors Authentication is matched to video stills taken from Game One (1) of the Finals against Team Canada that show matches to the team repair over the right forearm, a board burn under the "7" of the right sleeve and stick marks to the right of the "7" on the left sleeve. Choosing to trade jerseys with Mike Bossy of Team Canada after the deciding second game of the Finals and remaining in his possession until its sale in February of 2024, the jersey comes accompanied by a Letter of Provenance signed by Bossy's daughter, Josiane Bossy.
