Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024

Drinkers of Coca-Cola (and Sprite) in the mid-1960s had some nifty promotions to consider, with the '65-66 season presenting consumers with the chance to send away for complete team sets of square-ish cards on thick paper stock which could be mounted and stored in a special album. Offered here, we present this complete set of the 1965-66 Coca-Cola offerings that includes 108 total cards in six (6) undetached team sets. All still attached and not having been separated from each other, each of the six (6) Original Six teams are represented in team sets that include 18-cards in total. Missing the once attached to each 19th card that could be torn off and used/mailed, along with 50 cents, in exchange for an album to store/display the cards, light toning is observed over all of the included offerings that is seen as being a bit heavier on the cards that exist closer to the outside. With sets of Chicago, Boston, New York and Detroit in a better condition than those of the Montreal and Toronto contingents, the outside cards of the Chicago set (Glenn Hall and Dave Dryden) show some edge and corner wear with the Dryden having a small crease at the bottom right corner. With the Boston cards of Parent and Cheevers also showing light corner and edge wear, the Cheevers shows light creases/dings to the bottom two (2) points. Additionally, the card of New York's Don Simmons also shows a bit of paper loss at the bottom right corner/edge that is worth noting as well. Finally, for the Habs and Leafs sets, the cards of Gilles Tremblay, John Ferguson, Jim Roberts and Lorne Worsley all have corner creases, those of Bower, Pronovost, Kelly, Horton and Sawchuk all have creases affecting them as well.
