Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
A product of the Ontario Hockey League's London Knights that was drafted 110th overall by the Washington Capitals at the 1982 NHL Entry Draft, Ed Kastelic would go on to play a total of 220 National Hockey League games over the course of his career, suiting up for both Washington and the Hartford Whalers over the course of seven (7) years in the league. Offered here, we present this Hartford Whalers jersey donned by Kastelic during the 1990-91 season. Made by CCM, a partially washed out Maska tag that has had Kastelic's number "22" penned to it in black marker is affixed to the inner collar with tag also showing a faded size "52" designation in blue ballpoint pen ink. Accented over the reverse hem with the embroidered logos of CCM and the NHL, the jersey hails from the only season the Whalers wore mesh uniforms with that logo combination on the hem. Decorated over the front with a Whalers team crest in layered tackle twill, the sleeves and verso of the jersey have had Kastelic's number "22" sewn to them in dual layer green-over-blue tackle twill numerals while "Kastelic" is spelt out in matching style letters that have been affixed directly to the material at the top of the back. Still showcasing its original fight strap on the interior, the jersey displays just light game-wear in the form of a few black stick marks over inside upper portion of the right sleeve and shoulder while a couple of additional marks are found in the team crest and over the lower front. Finally, there are also a couple of spot stains throughout and good pilling exists on the interior.
