This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
A lot made for lovers of vintage cardboard and hailing from the beginning of Wayne Gretzky's illustrious National Hockey League career, up on the block this time is this lot that includes a near complete set of O-Pee-Chee's 1980-81 hockey release as well as complete assembly to the O-Pee-Chee hockey cards set from 1982-83. Starting with the earlier of the two (2) groupings, the 1980-81 contingent is found to be in the overall condition range of VG to VG-EX throughout its entirety with many of the cards sporting corner wear. Including three (3) unmarked checklists show things such as corner wear, centering issues and a crease (on #396 only), the team checklist cards are all found in their original unmarked state except for those of Montreal and Chicago. Missing cards 4, 71, 86, 191, 193, 250-Gretzky and 275 for completion, the key card that are present include the likes of 2-Bourque RB (GOOD - corner wear), 3-Gretzky RB (GOOD - corner wear), 25-Bossy (EX to EX-MT - signed), 67-Goulet RC (G to VG - corner wear), 87-Gretzky AS (GOOD - corner wear and wax residue), 140-Bourque RC (VG-EX to EX - light corner wear), 182-Gretzky/Oilers Checklist (GOOD - unmarked - slight crease), 195-Gartner RC (VG-EX to EX - light corner wear) and 289-Messier RC (G to VG - top right corner ding/damage). Moving on to the 1982-83 set, complete with all 396 cards making up the checklist present and accounted for with all the checklist cards found in their original unmarked state, the grouping is seen as being in the overall condition state of EX-MT to NM throughout. For the key cards, present are the likes of 1-Gretzky RB (EX to EX-MT - off-center and light border wear), 7-Bourque (EX to EX-MT - off-center and light border wear), 99-Gretzky TL (EX-MT to NM), 101-Coffey (EX to EX-MT - slight border wear), 105-Fuhr RC (EX-MT to NM), 106-Gretzky (EX-MT to NM), 107-Gretzky IA (EX-MT to NM), 117-Messier (EX-MT to NM), 123-Francis RC (EX-MT to NM), 199-Bossy (EX-MT to NM - signed), 307-Mullen RC (EX-MT to NM) and 380-Hawerchuk RC (EX-MT to NM).
