Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Still fighting as Cassius Clay during the first of two bouts against Henry Cooper in 1966, the first match took place at the famous Arsenal Stadium in Highbury on May 21st, with the fight called in the fifth round for Ali, as Cooper was bleeding heavily from a cut to his left eye. This lot contains an original program for the fight, an onsite ticket stub from the match, and a photo signed by Ali. The program is complete including the unused scorecard and full colour insert, while the 4" x 4" ticket stub lists all of the particulars including "Lower Tier", "Staircase No 2" and "Seat 46". Both items show some minor handling wear with no damage. The black and white photo is 8" x 10", with Ali signing in black marker with what appears to be a 1984 date. There was originally a dedication from Ali, but this has been removed from the photo. A JSA sticker is affixed to the bottom right, with the authenticity confirmed on their website.
