Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 9/24/2024
Just the sixth season of existence for the Boston Bruins, the club finished in first place overall in the NHL in 1929-30, with an especially impressive record of 38-5-1. This is the NHL record for the highest winning percentage for any team. Meeting the Montreal Canadiens in the Stanley Cup final, the heavily favoured Beantowners were upset by the Habs two games to none in the best-of-three final. We offer a Boston Garden program for a match vs Toronto on Feb 11, 1930. Complete including the center line-up which is now detached, there is a team photo of the 1928-29 Stanley Cup champion Bruins, with the Bruins starting six to include Shore, Thompson and Harry Oliver. There is some handling wear to the program, but it remains in very pleasing and collectible condition overall. The Bruins were triumphant this evening, winning 6-5 in overtime, with Cooney Weiland scoring three points.
