Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction September 2024

Despite finishing in fourth place with 57 points in 1948-49, the Toronto Maple Leafs lost only a single match during the playoffs en route to being crowned Stanley Cup champions. This Maple Leafs Gardens program for a Jan 8, 1949 match vs Chicago has been team-signed on the cover by 16 members of the Stanley Cup champion Leafs. With signatures appearing in either blue or black ink, signers include deceased HOFers Kennedy, Meeker, Bentley, Day, Watson and Turk Broda, along with Barilko, Juzda, Klukay, Taylor, Metz, Boesch, Lynn, Sloan, Timgren and Jim Thomson. The signatures present better than usually found, with the majority absolutely flawless, remaining as bold as the day they were penned. The program itself is complete, with just some expected handling wear. The match ended in a 3-3 draw, with Barilko scoring the game-tying goal for the Leafs. A JSA LOA will accompany.
