Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
Spending a single season in Omaha with the Knights in 1945-46 just before his NHL debut and historic NHL career, Gordie Howe scored 51 points in 51 games (according to stats listed in a program in this lot, the totals differ from modern sources, which claim 48 points in 52 games). The lot includes a 1945-46 team photo with Howe (paper stock, probably a premium from a program, 8" x 11", with a few small tears/paper loss along the bottom), a 1946-47 Knights media guide booklet, 1945-46 program vs St Paul Saints with Howe in the line-up (this is possibly from Howe's 2nd home game and 4th overall professional game, as the schedule section in the front of the programs shows no scores listed. This is because either the games haven't occurred yet, or they were designed to be filled in by hand), 1945-46 program vs the Fort Worth Rangers with Howe listed in line-up (cover partially detached, lower grade overall), 1946-47 Knights program (coverless) with 1945-46 team photo including Howe, and team stats on reverse (Howe was outscored by teammates Winky Smith and Don Morrison).
