Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2024
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/25/2024
A longtime stalwart of Spartak Moscow in both the Soviet League and the Russian Super League, Igor Boldin would play overseas in over six hundred (600) professional hockey games in his career and help his native Soviet Union / CIS to gold medals at both the 1983 and 1984 IIHF World Junior Hockey Championships plus the 1992 Winter Olympic Games. Offered here, we present this Soviet Union National Team jersey worn by Boldin at the 1983 IIHF World Junior Championships in Leningrad, USSR. A Koho made offering of a lightweight mesh construction that is void of any tagging, the garment measures out to roughly a size "44" and sports knitted red stripes over the lower front and on both sleeves. Having been decorated over the front with the Soviet Union's familiar "CCCP" moniker in single layer red twill letters that have been individually sewn on, the sleeves and verso have been styled with Boldin's number "15" in matching style numerals while "Boldin" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed matching nameplate at the top of the reverse. Having turned a light pink colour throughout from washings, the jersey shows game-wear in the form of stick marks over the front, reverse and left sleeve, board burns over the front and both sleeves, coloured paint transfers over the lower front and left sleeve and unrepaired cuts/holes over the left sleeve and lower front. Additionally, pilling is present on the outside of both sleeves and the lower front.
