A product of the University of Louisville Cardinals men's basketball program in the NCAA, with whom he would help to a National Championship in 1980 by defeating the UCLA Bruins in the Finals, Darrell Griffith would be selected with the 2nd overall pick at the 1980 National Basketball Association Draft by the Utah Jazz and would go on to play his entire career with the club, who had just moved to Utah from New Orleans and were in need of a star to replace legendary shooting guard Pete Maravich. Widely regarded as one of the greatest college basketball players of all-time, offered here is this warm-up suit that was worn by Griffith during the 1989-90 season in which he played in all eighty-two (82) games and averaged 8.9 points per game. Made by Medalist Sand-Knit of an acrylic material, size "40" labels appear over the inner collar and waistband of both the sweatshirt/jacket and pants alongside another one that denotes it as a garment "tailored exclusively for the Utah Jazz". Also showing various other labels sewn inside the interior of each piece for things such as the year ("89" on the jacket and "86" on the pants) plus "35" swatches (Griffith's uniform number) and various sizing notations, both pieces are in Utah's purple, green, yellow and white colourway and have had NBA league logos embroidered into them while the jacket decorated over both the front and reverse with Utah's logo in tackle twill. Both utilizing snap closures over either the front or down the legs, each piece remains in overall excellent condition with just a couple of faint/small spot stains over each piece as well as some minor pilling.
