Released following Reggie Jackson’s heroic World Series performance the previous October was Topps’ 1978 set, the 726-card effort featuring an interesting rookie card lineup and sporting a large checklist of 726 cards in all. Released during a year that saw a rematch of the previous year's World Series, which included the same result in the sense that the New York Yankees came out on top over the Los Angeles Dodgers, offered here is this complete assembly of Topps' 1978 Baseball release. Spearheaded by a group of eight (8) PSA graded cards (a raw example of each is also included within the set), the contingent includes examples of 5-Rose Record Breaker (PSA NM-MT 8), 22-Hough (PSA NM-MT 8), 40-Yastrzemski (PSA NM-MT 8), 60-Munson (PSA NM-MT 8), 80-Griffey (PSA VG-EX+ 4.5), 122-Eckersley (PSA MINT 9), 161-Boone (PSA NM-MT 8) and 320-Lynn (PSA NM 7). For the raw set, found to be in the overall average high-grade condition range of EX-MT to NM throughout its entirety for the most part except for a few common cards that show small elastic band marks over their borders. Including key offerings of examples such as 20-Rose (EX-MT to NM - small red print mark at his name over the front), 36-Murray RC (EX-MT to NM - small print line near his head), 40-Yastrzemski (EX to EX-MT - corner wear), 100-Brett (VG to VG-EX - miscut top border), 173-Yount (EX to EX-MT - corner wear at the bottom right), 400-Ryan (EX-MT to NM - tiny print mark at top right border), 530-WInfield (EX to EX-MT - badly off-center), 540-Carlton (EX to EX-MT - slight rough cut border edges), 700-Bench (EX-MT to NM - off-center), 703-Morris RC (EX-MT - fuzz to bottom right corner), 704-Whitaker RC (EX-MT to NM) and 707-Molitor/Trammel RC (EX-MT to NM). With the other star cards found throughout the checklist in a condition that is consistent with the rest of the set, it is also worth noting that all the checklist cards are found to be in their original unmarked state.
