Playing his junior hockey as a member of the Ontario Hockey League's Kingston Canadiens and going on to play a pair of seasons with the University of Toronto Varsity Blues, John Kemp would be signed as a free agent on January 15, 1986 after starting the 1985-86 season in the Canadian National Team program. Playing a total of forty-two (42) games in the American Hockey League with the Hershey Bears, offered here is this jersey made up for Kemp's use during the 1986-87 season of play. A heavyweight mesh construction offering made by CCM, a brand label with size "52" and "G" (for goalie) designations penned to it is affixed to the inner collar while a orange, black and white CCM logo is embroidered into the reverse hem. Decorated over the front with a familiar Flyers team crest in layered tackle twill, the sleeves and verso have been accented with the number "35" in dual layer tackle twill numerals. Of note, Bob Froese is listed as having worn the number during the 1986-87 season until he was traded to the New York Rangers on December 18, 1986 after playing only three (3) games all season. Likely a second set offering made up for Kemp after Froese's trade, "Kemp" has been spelt out in single layer black twill letters across an affixed matching mesh nameplate, that displays with some discoloration from the adhesive used to hold it down prior to being sewn down, at the top of the reverse. Having had the original fight strap cut from the reverse, a different one was added to the left and was sewn on through the bottom of the "5" for reinforcement. Remaining fully intact and showing no obvious signs of game-wear, the jersey remains in overall beautiful condition.
